Astoria’s Fatty’s Café uprooting after a decade

 Astoria institution, Fatty’s Café is moving to a new location in the neighborhood after spending 10 years on Ditmars Boulevard.

Known for its Latin-inspired cuisine and outdoor patio, the restaurant will leave its current location at 25-01 Ditmars Boulevard at Crescent Street after it was unable to renew its lease, the owner told DNAInfo.

“It’s bittersweet,” Fernando Peña, who owns Fatty’s with his wife Suzanne Furboter, said. “It’s kind of like a weird breakup.”

The restaurant’s new location is at 45-17 28th Avenue in a space formerly occupied by the restaurant Stove. Peña hope to reopen by late January or early February. [DNAInfo] –Christopher Cameron
