The Department of Buildings is weighing approval of a residential conversion of two 1800s-era stable buildings in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

The owner of 484-488 Hancock Street filed an application in July to turn them into a three-story apartment complex with six units. Whether the units are condominiums or rentals is unknown.

Although the DOB rejected the application last month, the city’s website now says “pending.” The conversion is expected to be complete by this summer.

The stable buildings’ ground floor would retain much of its look after the conversion, renderings show.

The buildings appear to lie outside of the Stuyvesant Heights historic district, according to the website of the Landmarks Preservation Commission. [Brownstoner]Mark Maurer
