A new design for the 36-story structure that the Related Companies is building at 205 East 92nd Street has been revealed.
Handel Architects, the building’s designer, has dumped the brick-accented facade, according to a new mock-up. Other features haven’t changed too much. The tower will offer a mix of residential, commercial, retail and community space.
The building’s wider, lower eight floors will house 33,935 square feet of commercial and retail space, including an Equinox gym. A 46,432-square-foot school for kids with learning disabilities will still take up a few base levels as planned. The higher floors will house 320 apartments, though it hasn’t been revealed if the units will still be a combination of condominiums, market-rate or affordable rentals as previously planned, Curbed reported. Building amenities would include bike storage, a children’s room, and a space on the 36th floor for which a use has yet to be defined.
The tower, which replaced a playground on the site, will feature a 12,000-square-foot open space, as The Real Deal previously reported. Related received the go-ahead for the project in January. The building is slated for completion in 2016. [Curbed] – Angela Hunt
