WEEKENDEDITION The city is providing temporary housing for 28 families — 110 people — that were displaced when two buildings exploded in East Harlem last Wednesday morning.

Mayor de Blasio is urging others left homeless by the blast to reach out for support from the city.

Those seeking shelter can go to the NYC Resident Service Center at 1580 Park Avenue inside La Marqueta Building 3, according to the New York Daily News.

However, some victims of the blast are turning down the city’s offer. The city’s temporary housing offer “was like a studio apartment in a shelter building,” said Lucy Reyes, 57, explaining why she and her son opted find their own housing. [NYDN] Christopher Cameron
